The Americans With Disabilities Act came into effect in 1990. Summarily it “…prohibits discrimination and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to participate in the mainstream of American life..”- a notion that just makes sense. The Act has a number of rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards that must be followed in public spaces to ensure that those who need assistance are afforded the same opportunities and conveniences available to everyone.
